Record Stores That Buy Vinyl
Whether you're downsizing a collection, settling an estate, or just making room for new finds, selling your records to a local shop is often the best combination of convenience and fair value. These stores buy vinyl directly from the public — walk in, get an offer, walk out with cash or store credit.
What to bring: clean records in the best condition you can manage. Remove any sleeves with major damage and wipe down records before you go — most buyers will grade condition on the spot and price accordingly. Bring a complete list of what you have if the collection is large; many stores prefer to schedule appraisals for collections over 100 records rather than doing them walk-in.
How pricing works: stores typically offer 30–50% of their resale price in cash, or more in store credit. Rare, sought-after pressings earn more. Common albums that every shop already has too many of will earn less, or may be passed on entirely. If you have time, check Discogs for what similar copies are selling for before you go — it gives you a realistic baseline for what to expect.
Some stores also do trades — you bring in records, leave with different ones of similar value. Check individual store listings to see if trades are an option.
